Crochet Braids – Natural Protective Style

This style was such a challenge for me simply because, I wasn’t sure how I was going to get all of my locs to cooperate. As you may already know, This style requires your hair to be cornrowed into a desired patterned and then synthetic Marley hair is then latch hooked through the cornrows (there are many videos online.) I chose to create 12 cornrows in the front and braided them to the crown of my head. Then I proceeded to create 6 big cornrows in the back and connected the 12 (2×2) from the front to the 6 in the back. So the work began (I wish I had recorded the process. It took 3 attempts before I could achieve the style above.) The latch hook part was fairly simple, but I didn’t have enough hair, I cut it too short and then I didn’t heat the water enough so, it didn’t curl and I walked around with GIGANTIC hair for a day. I left it in for close to 4 weeks and loved it.

My locs held up very well and grew significantly. It got to rest and the weight of my hair was, literally, lifted off my shoulders.

Try it and let me know how it works out for you.
